Kinesiology—the study of the science of human movement—may sound like a strange strength in a legal office. But when your clients are individuals who’ve experienced devastating personal injuries, it turns out to be a remarkable strategic advantage. And the combination of paralegal and kinesiologist is a guaranteed winner.
Katie Sandford is a perfect example. A licensed paralegal with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Guelph, Katie has worked as a kinesiologist in a clinical setting, providing treatment to injured people and helping to restore as much of their pre-accident level of functioning as possible.
Katie has worked with Findlay Personal Injury Lawyers since early 2007, using her legal and clinical expertise to independently manage hundreds of statutory accident benefits (or “no fault”) car insurance claims and assist our lawyers with lawsuits. She’s used her unique understanding of the body and its ability to recover from trauma to direct and manage clients’ recovery, ensuring that they take advantage of every avenue of treatment and funding that’s available to help get them back on their feet.
“The most gratifying part for me personally comes after the file is resolved,” says Katie. “That’s when I know that the client will have a level of financial security and independence that they otherwise wouldn’t have had.”
Katie and her husband Mike (who works as a local paramedic) welcomed their first baby, Joshua Michael Harrison, into their home in July of 2011. Josh, who is growing like a weed, loves his toy cars, books and plush monkey Marty. He’s also got the cleanest teeth in the house, thanks to his musical toothbrush.
In August 2012 we welcomed Katie back to work following her mat leave. Once again our clients are benefiting from her passionate and dedicated desire to see them treated fairly by the insurance industry.
Keep up the good work, Katie!
