Accident Benefits Changes Hurt Car Accident Victims

On September 1, 2010, the Ontario government made drastic changes to Accident Benefits available to auto accident victims, reducing the amount of Medical and Rehabilition coverage for the seriously injured from $100,000 to only $50,000. Most troubling about the changes is the new $3,500 cap for injuries that fall under the new Minor Injury Guidline. Many accident victims are finding that treatment funds are exausted before they have recovered, or that treatment plans are being denied despite being recommended by their treating doctors. The recent changes have seen insurance profits go up at the expense of car accident victims.
