Optional Benefits are additional insurance benefits which are purchased by an insured person in their car insurance policy which provides additional coverage for standard benefits which would not have otherwise been payable.

In Ontario, for accidents that occurred on or after June 1, 2016, the optional benefits are:

  • Increased income replacement
  • Housekeeping and home maintenance
  • Caregiver benefits
  • Increased medical and rehabilitation
  • Attendant care
  • Increased death and funeral benefits
  • Dependent care benefit
  • Indexation benefits
